A Practical AI Course Roadmap for Grades 8 to 12

A 6-8 week AI roadmap for students: AI basics, logic, Python, data, no-code tools, prompting, and a capstone demo.

A student AI course should move from curiosity to creation. The first week should explain what AI really is and where students already meet it in everyday life.

The next step is computational thinking: variables, loops, conditionals, and simple guided exercises. Students do not need to become developers immediately, but they should learn how computers follow instructions.

Data comes next. Students should understand why AI needs examples and how patterns are found in data. Simple spreadsheets or Colab notebooks are enough to make this real.

No-code AI tools are a powerful bridge. Students can train a simple image classifier and immediately understand how examples shape a model.

The course should end with a capstone and a demo day. This creates confidence, parent trust, and a useful portfolio artifact.
